Blog post #3: Six Freedoms

3 Bedrock Principles:

1. First Amendment protection is not absolute
2. First Amendment is not a shield against laws of general applicability
3. Freedom of the press is a "fundamental personal right"; not an institutional one

In reference to the recent Black lives Matter Movement, saying that it goes against the constitution is ultimately incorrect. Those who argue the violence of the protests take the movement out of context and provide no real evidence deeming those accusations to be true. It is, however, true that many people specifically attend the protests to start trouble, making a bad name for the movement. I am not saying that nobody who supports the movement resulted in violence, however, to make a bad name for the entire movement as if protests and rallies are not what it took to get the rights many of us have today is quite ignorant. Yes, violence is wrong. So is neglecting human rights. Take that into consideration the next time you step outside the protection of your home.
